Process and concepts of "I am... I like.. I want to.."

Thought I'd explain some of my process, conceptually and technically.

The origins of my work came from looking at a lot of things that have previously inspired or influnece me. I wanted to see where I sat in relation to these influences or works that are similar to mine. A paricular connection that is evident is using a character that is reminiscent of old timey cartoons, back in the 30s-40s. This was one of the reasons I choose to make my piece black and white, another reason being it allowed the images flow more seemlessly.

The simple answer to all three questions "I am.. I like.. I want to", is.. A creator. I create art, I create characters. I've always liked doing this, and it is my passion. In the future I want to expand upon my passion for creating. I want to bring these characters to life, and share my joy and passion. I want to inspire others.

Technical Process:

Each frame of animation was hand drawn in flash. My first wish was to do all my drawings with pencil, as I thought it would be more fitting to my concept. I didn't think I should go against the grain of technology like I was earlier. Each frame was printed out. If you look close enough at my final animation, you might notice a remininence of another animtion in the background, this was because I used recycled paper for some of it!

I then set my camera up over the top of each page. To keep the pages in place I used a peg that I bodged together and a hole punch. After taking all the shots I needed, I edited the piece together with Quicktime and then Final Cut Pro. I recorded all my sounds using a Zoom recorder.
