Music

I've started working on the music for my piece. The original song I See Spiders When I Close My Eyes by The Boy Least Likely To was the starting point to my ideas and will be featured within a mix. The beat and original composition of the song has been digitally recreated, so their is an absence of the lyrics/singer. This was done by Alex Donnelly.

I've already started to edit the samples he gave me, as the original song is it's a bit too cheery to go with my visuals. Slowing it down dramatically etc gives it this eerie, haunting but also beautiful - almost atmospheric feeling but not quite. This is what I wanted from the beginning of my stop motion. I am probably going to mix it with different parts of songs I've also had in mind. For the parts when the fetus is crying, and melting the audio will 'pick up'. I'm really excited about the music now.

Here's the final film!!

This was an animation I made in a month, earlier this year. It was really my first stop motion venture and it was an extremely rewarding project. I wish to create more works like this in the future!!

Storyboard

Got my storyboard down finally. Hopefully I won't have to change it too much when getting around to filming. I briefly attempted some of the shots I have in mind and the ones I figured would be diffucult are achievable.

Set is almost done

I decided to post how my set is coming along. Here's the original design:

few touches to do still. I want to add some real bark/sticks. It's looking a tiny bit empty. I was lacking the right colour paints for the backdrop. I did rush painting a bit, I went a bit pollock on it. But it will probably blurred in most of the shots anyway. I will probably experiment with the colours a tad when i'm editing it all together. But I'm fairly happy so far.

Inspiring stuff

Found this really interesting. More commercial looking that what I'd like mine to look, but some great visual techniques in this. Directed by Allison Schulnik, guessing there were a few people involved.




I like the natural objects interacting with the models. Similar to my idea. I also like this "melting affect", of the clay they've both used. There's something really stunning about it.

Stop motion

I've decided to not do a 2D piece and instead do a stopmotion. I figure, I should try covering some ground I have'nt before, plus.. I was finding it difficult to develop my other idea. I just found it was kind of forced. The main character is still a rabbit though.

I still need to draw out the storyboard but the story is already in my head.
